Our prediction: A draw @ 3.60. Betis won their UCL opener 3-2 against Lille after coming from behind, while Porto lost 2-0 to Manchester City and have a poor record on trips to Spain. Both sides have reasons to expect a result, so the draw offers the best price. The Real Betis vs Porto clash kicks off at the Estadio de La Cartuja in Seville on Wednesday 14 October at 20:00 WAT (20:00 BST).

Team news and form
Real Betis came from behind to beat Lille 3-2 in their opener. Their only previous UCL main draw campaign, in 2005/06, produced just two wins, so Manuel Pellegrini’s side can equal that tally in their second game. They have lost only one of their last 22 home group stage/league phase games in major European competition (W14, D7) and have won seven in a row as hosts after Sunday’s 5-2 win over Osasuna.
Porto lost 2-0 to Manchester City on matchday one but have won three straight since, the latest a 2-1 win over Marítimo on Friday. They have won all eight of their Portuguese top-flight games and the City defeat is their only competitive loss this season. Another defeat would leave them on the brink of three successive main draw European defeats for the first time since October 2020, but they have won eight of their last 11 group stage/league phase games (L3) and scored two or more in nine of them.
Pablo Fornals created four chances against Lille and made an assist, but has not scored in Europe since May 2023. Borja Sainz has scored his last four goals after the 60th minute, three of which closed the scoring. Antony picked up a fresh injury for Betis on Sunday, while Jan Bednarek is suspended for Porto.
Head-to-head – Last 5 meetings
Real Betis have never faced Portuguese opposition in the UCL. Porto have won only three of their 19 away games against Spanish sides in the European Cup/UCL (D3, L13), a poor record that favours the hosts.
Why we’re backing it
Both teams have strong signs for a result. Betis are close to unbeatable at home in Europe, while Porto have won eight of their last 11 league phase games, won five of their last seven Wednesday UCL matches (L2) and conceded exactly once in seven of their last ten away games. A one-goal-each game fits those numbers.
There are other angles. Seven of Betis’ last eight competitive games produced at least ten corners, and 11 of their last 14 home matches produced at least four yellow cards. The risk is that Porto’s poor record in Spain finally shows and Betis win, which is why we have also listed Betis or draw as the safe pick.
